FAQ
Do I need therapy?
I don’t think it is my place to tell people whether they need therapy or not. My sense is that therapy best serves people who want to create some sort of change but feel stuck where they are.
When are you open?
I am usually available 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday. My cell phone number is available on the office answering machine for emergencies at other times.
How much does it cost?
My fee is $90.00 per 50 minute session. If you have a managed care policy, I accept the rate set by the insurance company as payment in full.
How long does it last?
That is hard to say and each situation is different. Typically, my clients see me for 3 to 5 sessions. Some come in much longer, some only once. I have found little correlation between the type of problem and the number of sessions we have.
Will you bill my insurance company?
Yes, I will send one claim per session. Please take a look at my blog entry on insurance. Typically I like to be paid at time of service and I do not bill my clients. I find this allows me to reduce my costs and avoids adding to my clients’ debt load.
What if I want to use my insurance but you are not on my managed care panel?
I can provide you with a receipt when you pay for your session. Many insurance companies will reimburse you for a portion of my fee. You can usually call a 1-800 number on the back of you card where you can find out about their policies. Many companies will allow you to "go out of network" although your percentage of the fee will be higher than if you stay in network. I collect co-pays and deductibles at the time of service.
Do you accept checks?
I accept cash and personal checks.
